Incident Command System (ICS) Training
The Campus Incident Management Team (CIMT) uses Incident Command System (ICS) to provide the command and control infrastructure that is required to manage the logistical, fiscal, planning, operational, safety and campus issues related to any and all incidents/emergencies. Through an ICS structure, the CIMT has adopted an integrated organizational structure that can expand or contract to match the complexities and demands of the incident at hand.
ICS is a standardized, yet flexible, on-scene, all-hazards incident management approach and can be used for incidents of any type, scope, and complexity. Additionally, because ICS is a central component of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), it is used by most response teams in the U.S. Therefore, the use of ICS for campus response activities facilitates coordination with other jurisdictions involved in a response, such as the Eugene Police Department, the Eugene Fire/EMS Department, Lane County, and State and Federal Agencies.
UOEMC provides individuals and groups with trainings in the Incident Command System (ICS).
The University of Oregon Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) is based on ICS principles. Basic ICS training - consisting of IS 100, IS 200, IS 700, and IS 800 training - is recommended for all University staff who may be involved in managing an incident or emergency.
Classroom based trainings
The UO Emergency Management & Continuity Program offers ICS training classes to University faculty and staff who have been referred by the department or unit director for training or who have been identified as someone who may be involved in managing an incident or emergency. Classes are held throughout the year, based on interest and need. UOEMC staff are certified to teach ICS 100, 200, 700, 800, 300 and 400 and have access to statewide training opportunities for faculty and staff as necessary. For more information, contact Emma Stocker at 541-346-8213, estocker@uoregon.edu.
Web based classes
ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 training is also available on-line at no cost from the U.S. Emergency Management Institute. University staff must have supervisory approval prior to taking on-line training as work time.
The University Emergency Management & Continuity Program maintains a database of all University personnel who have successfully completed any level of ICS training. When you complete an on-line ICS course please e-mail or campus mail a copy of your course certificate to Emma Stocker, estocker@uoregon.edu.
